Welcome to our website. Please be patient as we are under construction here as well as in the establishment of Failsafe as a non profit organization. Our goal is to register with the province as such and will do so as soon as we wade through the red tape involved.

During this time we would still like to hear from you and welcome any businesses and individuals interested in supporting our efforts in helping families in need.

Our goal is to alleviate the effect that CAS has on families by finding a way to involve the community where these families live and assist in making their living environment better thereby giving them a better chance at avoiding the scrutiny of the Children's Aid Society.

We are our brothers keeper. We spend tens of millions of dollars on under privileged children in other countries while we ignore the plight of children and those who care for them here in our own country. Not all who fall under the scrutiny of CAS are bad parents, suffering from bad times, economy, financial stress ..... absolutely. That does not make one a bad parent. Unfortunate yes.

526 complaints about the CAS fell on deaf ears last year because there is no watchdog. The ombudsman's office, MPPs and MPs AND, the prime minister have no governing authority over this agency. They are free to run amok within our community and snatch children at will, sometimes leaving a worse scenario than when they walked in the door.

It is our goal to see that CAS is policed and that people get a fair shake in court. No more secrecy, short service of papers, premature apprehension of children, underhanded tactics, unsupervised INTERROGATION of children.

You may think that this is a stretch but, I could make an anonymous complaint about you and your treatment of your kids and before you know it, you are guilty, your kids are gone and you are in for the fight of your life. You see, you don't have the right to face your accuser in a CAS court case. You don't have the right to file a complaint against CAS while involved in a case. You don't have the right to be present when your kids are being INTERROGATED.

You essentially don't have any rights, including, first and foremost, the right to a fair trial. No ex CAS lawyer, presiding over a CAS case as judge and jury can preside over said case more than twice. Rotating judges, rotating case workers, misconstrued and false information, not to mention possibly false accusations make your chances very very slim.

The Children's Aid Society's mandate is guilty until proven innocent and up till now it has worked for them. That is unacceptable. It's time for a change. As in the case of Paul Bernado and Karla Holmolka, they had more rights as murderers than you do for perhaps not having school snacks in the fridge one day. Strange though as it is, Karla is free and can apply for a pardon after murdering three people but people lose their children without recourse for less. Karla, with her name change and identity protected is free to have children at will. Imagine that. Not to mention that CAS decisions are irreversible.

Do not misinterpret the fact that we are against CAS tactics as being against the CAS. Yes, there are times when they should be involved and should we as a responsible agency come across a situation where their intervention is required we would without fail, back them 100%.

Our goal is not to derail this agency but to make them accountable for their actions, ensure that there is recourse for unjustified apprehension of children, compensation for families persecuted by the CAS and found not guilty of any wrong doing, as was the case with our family.

We admit and acknowledge the need for the CAS but when this organization has to run a newspaper ad three weeks running for foster parents what does that tell you. The money spent on foster care in this province would be better spent teaching young families, removing women and their kids from abusive situations, counselling, therapy, education and more. Removing the child from a situation may not always alleviate the situation. Removing the child and leaving the mother may in fact get someone hurt, or, god forbid, killed.

Ottawa CAS had a budget of $71 million last year. Windsor CAS built a brand new $5 million building three years ago when the vacancy rate for office space in Windsor was 47%. Where is the logic.
The same logic and mentality shown there is shown by the CAS workers in carrying out their jobs. Lets stop advertising for homes for stolen children and start helping families in NEED.

For an agency which claims to be interested in the family dynamic they show little or no interest in helping. Kids are being taken at an alarming rate without regard for the family dynamic and without any aftercare for the families who suffer that loss.

It is time for a change!!!
